Mother’s Day weekend this year looked a little different for me… and honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Instead of flowers and brunch, we decided on a concert weekend in Biloxi to see Staind at CPR Fest “22” 2026 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Between the live music, nonstop rainstorms, beach walks, and getting to experience Stephen and the boys at their first concert (and an all day metal fest at that 😉) and watching the boys live their best lives in the hotel pool, the entire weekend felt chaotic, loud, nostalgic, and kind of perfect in its own messy way.

We stayed at Hyatt Place Biloxi from Friday, May 9th through Sunday, May 11th in Room 314, a third floor Gulf view room with two queen beds. Overall, we genuinely enjoyed our stay.
Now, was everything flawless? No.
But I also think real reviews should actually be real. I never want to hype something up like it’s perfect when it’s not, especially when people are spending their hard earned money on trips right now. At the same time though, context matters too, and this hotel was dealing with a packed concert weekend, Mother’s Day crowds, and horrible weather literally the entire trip.
Even with a few cons, the positives absolutely outweighed the negatives for us.

The Room
Honestly, the room itself was probably the biggest highlight of the stay for me.
The beds were SO comfortable. Like, collapse after a full day of concerts and storms and immediately pass out comfortable. The room was also much larger than I expected for a standard two queen room setup.
Our room included:
• A large sitting area with a pull out couch
• Mini fridge
• Coffee station
• Safe
• Closet with hangers
• Ironing board
• Extra pillows and linens
• Plenty of room for everyone to spread out comfortably
The overall hotel and room felt clean and well maintained despite how busy the property clearly was that weekend.
There were definitely a few little maintenance quirks though.
The bathroom sink had a noticeable crack/chip inside, the shower took a bit to warm up, and the water pressure was INTENSE. The shower head also didn’t really adjust, which made things a little awkward.
The AC buttons were also sticking, so the room stayed pretty cold overnight.
Still, none of those things ruined the stay for us. They were more small inconveniences worth mentioning than actual major problems.
Pool, Hot Tub & Property
The boys absolutely loved the pool and hot tub.
Even with the weather being awful most of the weekend, they still spent a ton of time swimming while Stephen and I ran across the street to walk the beach between storms.
The hotel also had:
• Outdoor seating
• Smoking areas
• Pool towels available
• A nice fire pit seating area
Unfortunately, because it rained basically nonstop all weekend, they weren’t able to light the fire pit while we were there.
There were a few moments where the hall trash bins got overloaded from the crowds, and part of the pool area was blocked off with orange tape during our stay, but considering how packed the hotel was that weekend, it was understandable.

The Beach & Gulf
One thing I do think visitors should know beforehand is that Biloxi Beach may not be exactly what people picture when they think “Gulf Coast beach vacation.
”The location itself is beautiful, especially at sunset, and being directly across from the beach was incredibly convenient.
But the weather definitely impacted things during our stay.
Locals repeatedly warned us not to get into the Gulf water, especially after a storm, and since it rained nearly our entire trip, we decided not to risk it. The water was very brown and parts of the beach were a little dirty and crowded during the daytime. That said, I don’t think that’s really the hotel’s fault. That’s more just being honest about the area itself.
The nearby Biloxi Lighthouse was still really cool to see, and Stephen and I genuinely enjoyed our rainy beach walks together anyway.
And yes… the birds absolutely WILL swarm you if food is involved. Poor Tristen learned that lesson quickly.
Breakfast & Staff
The free breakfast honestly exceeded my expectations overall.
There were:
• Waffles
• Sausage
• Eggs
• Potatoes
• Fresh fruit
• Yogurt
• Bagels and toast
• Cereal
• Juice
• Coffee & more!
The scrambled eggs definitely had that typical hotel egg texture happening, but overall the breakfast was hot, fresh, and convenient before long days running around Biloxi.
The night front desk girl during check in was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the housekeeper we spoke with was also very sweet.
There is a small bar right at the front desk, and also some snacks and refreshments for purchase.
There is a Starbucks sign near the front desk even though the Starbucks itself was apparently closed down while we were there.
As a tea person, I survived. Barely.
A Quick Heads Up About Late Night Food
Just a quick Biloxi tip…
A LOT of the restaurants nearby are attached to casinos.
After the concert Saturday night around 11 PM, we attempted to eat at a restaurant inside Boomtown Casino and were stopped because my sons weren’t allowed through late at night even though the website said they could and we even called and asked ahead of time and had just gotten a bracelet on one of my boys when a security guard ran up and said they couldn’t go into the restaurant, only the buffet during the day. So if you’re traveling with teenagers, just know that your late night dining options can get limited pretty quickly after concerts or events.
We ended up at Waffle House instead and let’s just say… next time I’m probably choosing a drive thru instead.
Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, would we stay at Hyatt Place Biloxi again?
Honestly… yes, probably.
Would I compare prices first next time? Also yes.
I do think almost $250 a night feels a bit high for the overall experience, even using rewards points, but that also came during a major concert weekend and Mother’s Day weekend while booking somewhat last minute. ( And they did charge a $200 deposit at arrival that is returned after you leave if nothing is damaged as well ).
For us though, the positives really did outweigh the negatives.
The room was spacious and comfortable.
The boys loved the pool.
The location was convenient.
The breakfast was solid.
The late noon checkout was amazing.
And honestly, some of my favorite moments from the trip came from simply slowing down, listening to the rain outside our hotel window, and walking the beach between storms.
No trip is ever going to be absolutely perfect.
But sometimes the slightly messy, loud, rainy, real life trips end up being the ones you remember the most.
