Another month down, and June did not disappoint. From fantasy realms dripping in angst to historical romances that had us raising eyebrows, this month’s lineup was as chaotic and captivating as ever. Whether you were here for the ARC reviews, the horoscopes, or just lurking for a good book recommendation, here’s everything we tackled on the blog this month.
Grab your tea or wine, and let’s recap.
What We Posted
June 2025 New Fantasy & Romance Releases
We started the month strong with a rundown of the hottest fantasy and romance releases hitting shelves. If you missed that post, now’s your chance to go back and bulk up that TBR pile. Summer isn’t ready for you, but your bookshelf is.
June Book Horoscopes: Your Fate in Fiction
The zodiac signs got their moment this month in our first ever book horoscopes. We matched your astrological chaos to your next favorite read, and let’s just say, some of y’all felt a little too seen. We’ll definitely be bringing this back.
Book Reviews
June was stacked. Here’s what we reviewed and how it stacked up:
Fairydale by Veronica Lancet
A haunting, gothic romantasy with deep family ties, rich atmosphere, and enough slow burn ache to keep you hooked. A bit long in spots, but worth it. 4.5 stars.
Spellcaster by Jaymin Eve
A fantasy romance that had a few interesting ideas but didn’t quite stick the landing. Some of the plot threads felt underdeveloped. 3 stars.
The Queen’s Card by Erin Archer
Royal intrigue meets tarot based magic in a unique setup that could’ve used a little more development and emotional payoff. Still, it had its charm. 3.5 stars.
Grave Flowers by Autumn Krause
A quiet powerhouse. Mixed race identity, grief, and mystery are at the heart of this beautifully written story. Emotionally layered and full of surprises.
The Library at Hellebore by Cassandra Khaw
Dark, lyrical, and unsettling. This one isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you like your stories grim and poetic, it’s a must read.
One Dark Kiss by Rebecca Zanetti
A fast paced paranormal romance with some bite. High tension, high heat, and just enough darkness to keep things interesting.
Soulmatch by Rebecca Danzenbaker
A futuristic soulmate concept that blends sci-fi and romance. Quietly emotional and refreshingly unique in execution.
We Who Will Die by Stacia Stark
A gritty, high stakes fantasy that delivers raw emotion, survival grit, and a character driven punch to the gut. Powerful and well paced. And one of my new favorite books!
The Whispers and the Roars by K. Webster
A haunting psychological romance that kept me off balance. Dark, bold, and full of reveals. Not for the faint of heart.
Love & Other Cures for the Recently Undead by H.J. Ramsay
Heartfelt with a few unexpected twists. While some emotional moments felt a little rushed, the overall story delivered a solid mix of healing and heartbreak.
That Regency Romance Rethink…
We wrapped the month with a breakdown of a Regency romance that promised Bridgerton level drama and gave us… something else entirely. It was supposed to be a slow burn. It wasn’t. It was supposed to be Austen inspired. It wasn’t that either. What it did spark was some of the best convos on my social media we’ve had in a while. Sometimes the fun is in the unpacking.
What’s Coming in July
We’ve got plenty to look forward to: dragons, mid year wrap ups, and a few spicy indie reads that may or may not ruin your sleep schedule. But the real news?
We’re officially launching our new travel section: Booked & Boarding.
This new corner of the blog will be your go to for bookish travel inspiration, cozy escapes, literary landmarks, and midlife travel that doesn’t involve hostels or packed itineraries. Whether it’s a bookstore in the French Quarter or a hidden writing retreat in the mountains, we’re about to take this story on the road.
So if you’re craving more than just fictional escapes, stay tuned.
Thanks for reading, sharing, commenting, and hanging out in this little digital book nook of mine. I’ll see you next month with more chaos, more magic, and plenty more to say.
🫶🏼 – Ali
