On Saturday, August 2, 2025, we rolled into New Orleans for my birthday weekend and decided to grab a late brunch before checking into the hotel. A quick Google Maps search led us to a little spot called Biscuits & Buns on Banks, and let me just say, this place understood the assignment.
Located in Mid-City and tucked beside a barber shop, this cozy breakfast spot sits under the shade of ancient oak trees and amongst a stretch of cute, local restaurants. It’s the kind of place you might pass if you weren’t looking… but you’d seriously be missing out.
We showed up around 1:00 PM and had a 25 minute wait, which honestly flew by. The restaurant was packed, but the mood was light, upbeat, and full of anticipation. You could tell people knew this place was worth it.

The Vibe:
The space is small, just one bathroom and a narrow dining area, but it’s warm, clean, and full of soul. Local murals cover the walls, and the staff? Pure New Orleans hospitality. Every corner of the restaurant felt alive and welcoming.
The Service:
Our server, Angel, was just that… an absolute angel. (Told ya I’d remember you 😉) Sweet, genuine, and on top of every detail. When she found out it was my birthday, she surprised me with a plate of birthday beignet bites, fresh and sugary with just the right amount of berry syrup indulgence. Akeela the hostess was just as lovely, bright, bubbly, and welcoming from the moment we stepped inside. Even the kitchen staff waved and laughed with guests, and the manager made rounds to check on everyone. It felt like we were dining with friends.

What We Ordered:
- Fresh fruit bowl for me (light and refreshing)
- French toast for the boys, massive slices served on thick-cut French bread
- Pork chop breakfast for Stephen, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned
- Café mochas and caramel lattes, smooth, rich, and just the jolt we needed after the drive
Every single plate was hot, fresh, hearty, and packed with flavor.
Final Thoughts:
If you’re hungry and in New Orleans, especially anywhere near Mid-City, Biscuits & Buns on Banks is an absolute must. Yes, the wait can be a bit long, and yes, space is tight, but the food, service, and atmosphere make it more than worth the squeeze.
It wasn’t a planned stop on my birthday weekend, but it ended up being one of the highlights. We’ll definitely be back!
