Ravenminder is the kind of dark fantasy that immediately pulls you in with its originality. The world Lindsay Cummings built is rich, the magic is intriguing, and Ezer is a heroine you can’t help but root for. She is scarred, stubborn, and far from perfect, which makes her journey all the more compelling. The creatures, the tension, and the betrayals are vivid and full of those gasp out loud moments that keep you turning the pages.

I especially loved the lore, the raphons, and the way Cummings doesn’t shy away from complicated relationships. The love triangle is messy, the friendships feel real, and the emotional stakes stay high throughout. The banter and bonds gave me just enough lightness to balance the darker themes.

That said, I did have a couple of struggles. Some sections dragged a little in the middle, and while the finale hit hard, it also felt rushed. Ezer’s big swap up moment was more confusing than it should have been, and I needed more build up to fully buy into it. I also found myself wanting to know more about her magic, because we really do not get much explanation or a clear sense of how it works. I am hoping the next book will slow down a bit and give us more clarity there, because the potential is huge.

Overall, this was a really strong read. I was hooked, I felt invested, and even with its flaws, it left me eager to see what is next. For readers who enjoy dark fantasy with morally gray characters, strange magic, and emotional twists, Ravenminder is absolutely worth picking up.
